The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit will be held in Pakistan. Foreign guests started arriving in Islamabad to participate in the summit. Army was deployed to maintain law and order during the conference. The 23rd SCO Summit will be held in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.
A 76-member delegation from Russia arrived in Pakistan on Sunday. A four-member delegation from India has also reached Pakistan, sources told Geo News. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will also attend this conference. A delegation of 15 members from China, 4 members from Kyrgyzstan and 2 members from Iran also reached Islamabad.
Islamabad IG Nasir Ali said that a security plan has been prepared in the capital. He said that security personnel will be appointed in hotels and places where foreign guests stay. He said that more than 9 thousand policemen have been deployed in Islamabad.
The government has already deployed the army to maintain law and order. At the same time, rallies and protests were also banned in Islamabad’s neighboring Rawalpindi and surrounding cities.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the SCO. He said that Pakistan is hosting a big international event after many years.
SCO was established in 2001. It includes Pakistan, China, India, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
