(CNN)- Scooter Braun would like to change the subject.
The music executive would especially like people to stop talking about his public and controversial sale of megastar Taylor Swift’s master recording, saying that “After five years, I think it’s time to put this issue behind us Is.”
during his appearance At Bloomberg’s Screentime event in Hollywood this Thursday, Braun said this after watching the Max documentary “Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood” – which premiered in June and detailed the results of the recording’s sales – felt that “there were many things that were distorted.” (Max and CNN are owned by the same parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.)
“I think it’s important that people communicate directly with each other in any type of conflict. I think it’s not the right place to do that on social media and in front of everyone,” Braun said. “I think when people take the time to stand face to face and have a conversation, they usually realize that the monster isn’t real.”
He added that he “has had no personal conversations with Swift.”
In 2019, Braun acquired the master recordings of Swift’s first six albums from her former label Big Machine Label Group, despite objections,
The sale prompted Swift to post a lengthy statement on her social media pages at the time, calling the deal a “worst-case scenario”. He later announced his plans to regain control of his master recordings by re-recording the acquired albums.
Four of the six albums Swift has released since 2019 have been called “Taylor’s Edition” albums. In them he included never-before-heard songs called “From the Vault Tracks”.
“I want to own my music and I think any artist should own their music,” Swift told her audience at last year’s Eras Tour concert in Minneapolis after releasing “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”. If there is a desire to become one, one must be able to do so.” ,
When Braun was asked at the Bloomberg event this Thursday which artist’s career he would like to join, he mentioned Swift. To the surprise of the audience (evident by an audible wave of murmurs and gasps), he called out Swift’s name.
“I think she’s the artist you should always bet on,” Braun said, “and she’s already a big star that you can always bet on, because that’s what she wants all the time and all the time.” She does everything she can to stay present and relevant at all times, this is Taylor Swift.”
