External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. On the occasion he lashed out at Pakistan for terrorism and said that the country (Pakistan) is choosing the path of backwardness in the world system due to its actions.
S Jaishankar said that many countries are backward due to circumstances beyond their control, but some countries make such choices deliberately and the consequences are disastrous. The biggest example of this is our neighboring country Pakistan. Unfortunately, their misdeeds also affect others, especially their neighbors, he said. When polities radicalize their people, their GDP can only be measured in terms of fundamentalism and extremism.
The foreign minister said that Pakistan should not blame the world for the current situation and emphasized that it is only its work. He said that a passive country that indulges in greed on other people’s land should be exposed and confronted.
‘Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism will never succeed’
Jaishankar specifically targeted Pakistan after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif compared the situation in Kashmir to Palestine. In his speech, Jaishankar said that Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism will never succeed. He warned the neighboring country of the consequences of his actions.
No one should think that PAK is getting away with impunity
Jaishankar said that yesterday we heard some strange arguments from the same forum (UNGA). Let me make India’s position very clear. Pakistan’s policy of cross-border terrorism will never succeed and will go unpunished. In his speech, Jaishankar said that the issue to be resolved between us is to vacate the Indian territory illegally occupied by Pakistan.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said this
In his speech at UNGA on Friday, Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif compared the situation of Jammu and Kashmir to Palestine and let you know that the people have fought for their freedom and self-determination for a century. He urged that talks should be held in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the “wishes of the Kashmiri people”. The Pakistani prime minister claimed that India rejected Pakistan’s offer for mutual strategic restraint, accusing the Indian leadership of threatening to cross the Line of Control (LoC), which it calls “Azad Kashmir”.
India strongly criticized Shahbaz’s comments
India strongly criticized Shehbaz Sharif’s comments. Indian diplomat Bhavika Mangalanandan said, “As the world knows, Pakistan has been using cross-border terrorism as a weapon against its neighbors for a long time,” saying that it was a big hypocrisy for such a country to talk about violence anywhere.
Jaishankar expressed his views on many issues
Meanwhile, in the UNGA speech, S Jaishankar also spoke about burning issues like the Gaza war and the Russia-Ukraine war. Supporting the 79th UNGA theme ‘Leaving No One Behind’, Jaishankar said that we have reached here at a difficult time. He stressed that the United Nations should take steps to make the world a better place, not because of competing with foreign influences, but if we continue like this, the world will only get worse.
