Delhi Police has informed in a notification that many organizations have called for holding various programs including protests in the Delhi area in the first week of October 2024. At the same time, the announcement of the DUSU results is also still pending. In such a situation, the Delhi Police Commissioner has ordered imposition of Section 163 in the area.

The notification states that due to Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, there will be a large-scale movement of VVIP people in New Delhi and Central District. Additionally, assembly elections are underway in Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana. Therefore, there is a need to continuously check the movement of people and vehicles across Delhi borders. In the run-up to these elections, areas inhabited by migrants from America may become particularly vulnerable due to the infiltration and incitement of anti-social elements intent on disrupting public order in the nation’s capital. Along with this, the festive season is also around the corner, Dussehra and Diwali are also coming.

There will be a ban on these things

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has said in the order that Section 163 will remain in force from 30/09/2024 to 10/05/2024 in New Delhi, North and Central districts, apart from all police stations with territorial jurisdiction on the borders. Delhi. There will be a ban on such activities during this period-:

  • A gathering of five or more unauthorized persons.
  • Carrying firearms, banners, placards, sticks, spears, swords, sticks.
  • Protest in any public place.

A notification from the Delhi Police states that violating any order will be punishable under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code 2023.
