An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York received a bomb threat and there was panic. The plane was quickly diverted in the air towards Delhi and landed at Delhi’s IGI Airport. Currently the plane is also standing at Delhi Airport. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers and crew, the aircraft is being inspected as per the security protocol.
A similar incident came to light on August 22 when another Air India flight received a bomb threat. This flight reached Thiruvananthapuram from Mumbai. A full emergency was declared at the airport.
There were 135 passengers on board
Later, Air India flight AI 657 was safely landed at the airport. After this the aircraft was placed in an isolation bay. A total of 135 passengers and crew were then evacuated.
The plane landed safely
The airport issued a statement saying that AI 657 (BOM-TRV) reported a bomb threat on August 22, 2024 at 0730 hrs. A full emergency was declared at TRV Airport at 0736 hrs. The plane landed safely. It is parked in isolation bay.
IndiGo flight also received threats
Earlier in June 2024, an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat, following which the flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai. There were 172 passengers and crew on board.
Passengers disembarked
After landing in Mumbai, the airline said the crew followed protocol and took the plane to an isolation bay as per safety agency guidelines. All the passengers were safely disembarked from the plane.
