According to the newspaper, Gates confidentially told three different sources that he recently donated this to a non-profit organization that supports Harris’ presidential campaign. However, the former Microsoft CEO has not publicly disclosed his financial support for the Democratic candidate.
“I support candidates who demonstrate effective commitment to health, poverty reduction and climate change in the US and around the world (…) I have a long history of working with political leaders, but this election is different, very important to the American people and the world’s most vulnerable people,” Gates said in a statement to the New York Times.
Gates’ philanthropy, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is most concerned with the reduction of contraceptives and health systems around the world if former Republican President Donald Trump is elected, according to two people who spoke to the NYT. According to the release, Gates has expressed concern about what Donald Trump’s second term would be like by calling friends, but also stressed that he can work with anyone.
“Black money” organization
Gates’ donations went mainly to the non-profit organization Future Forward, which as a 501(c)(4) “dark money” organization. it does not disclose its donorsaccording to the medium. This is why none of Gates’ contributions appear in any public document.
Gates discussed his donation to Harris with Mike Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York and senior supporter of Future Forward, who had seen similar donations, according to the American newspaper. The newspaper reported that the reason why some donors choose such a method is because some of the donors are billionaires who support Harris. They fear the consequences Trumpet if he wins the November 5 elections.
The one who did not keep quiet with his contributions this year is businessman Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, who invested more than 75 million dollars to try to restore Trump to the White House.
