A man from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh was murdered in Saudi Arabia. After about 40 days, his body was brought to India. The body was cremated late at night, which was attended by family members and members of the administration. People bid farewell to the dead with tears in their eyes.
Gonda District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that 40-year-old Mohammad Shakeel, a resident of Imarti Bisen in Sadar sub-division, used to work as a goatherd in Saudi Arabia. A month ago, goatherds in Saudi Arabia killed Shakeel with a sharp weapon.
The family members of the deceased were initially told that Shakeel had fallen down and died, but the family members expressed doubt that it was not an accident. In such a situation, the family members approached the central government to bring the dead body home.
The District Magistrate said that the body was finally brought to India after 40 days due to the efforts of Minister of State for External Affairs and local MP Kirti Vardhan Singh. Shakeel’s cousin Nizamuddin thanked the government and the district administration. He said that the Minister of State for External Affairs intervened in this matter, which helped in bringing the dead body to India.
Nizamuddin asked the Indian foreign minister to initiate talks with the Saudi Arabian administration to take strict action against the accused. Now the family is in mourning with the death of Shakeel. He expressed hope that the culprits would be punished.
According to the news agency, deceased Mohammad Shakeel had four daughters. The family members performed the last rites of Shakeel’s body on Sunday night. Shakeel’s cousin Nizamuddin said, “We are thankful to the Indian government and the Gonda district administration for helping us. The Minister of State for External Affairs intervened in the matter and helped bring the body to India.
