Four people have been arrested in connection with the attack on doctors and nurses after a patient died during treatment at the College of Medicine and Sagar Dutta Hospital near Kolkata. The arrested persons are the family members of a 30-year-old female patient who died while undergoing treatment.
Barrackpore Police Commissioner Alok Razoria said, “Four people were arrested for assaulting doctors and nurses at Sagar Dutta Hospital on Friday evening. We received a complaint from the hospital authorities. CCTV footage of the hospital was taken as evidence.” Forfeited.”
Later, the accused were produced in the court in Barrackpore. Health Secretary NS Nigam and officials from other departments visited the hospital during the day. He had a meeting with the police, hospital officials and junior doctors who were off duty after the incident.
NS Nigam said that they have heard the words of the doctors and nurses, arrested the accused, are installing additional CCTVs in the hospital and will take all precautionary measures. Three junior doctors, three nurses and a health worker were injured in the attack on the hospital in Kamarhati, North 24 Parganas.

The attack took place when students and council were meeting in the medical college. It was alleged that some outside assailants had committed the attack in this meeting.
A group of students came to the medical college for a meeting with an officer regarding some of their demands. On this occasion, some college students protested outside the gate. Later, 100 to 150 people entered the college campus and started vandalizing it. Glasses were broken during the council meeting.
The principal accused some students of creating ruckus in the meeting. The glass door was also damaged. Immediately after receiving the information about the incident, the police reached the spot. After that the situation came under control. Shortage of college hostels and allotment of hostels has caused havoc.
