Nuria Marqués Brings the First Medal of the Day
Two medals in two days. That’s the tally this week for Nuria Marqués. The Catalan swimmer was part of the Spanish 4×100 medley relay team that won bronze yesterday, and today she has earned a medal in an individual event, the 100m backstroke S9. This is the sixth Paralympic medal of her career.

More Finals at La Défense
After making history with her 28th Olympic medal, Teresa Perales from Aragón continues her pursuit of more success, aiming for another final in the 100m freestyle. Perales qualified for the final, swimming in the same heat as Marta Fernández, who finished first. Perales achieved her personal best to place third.

Others who have qualified include Antoni Ponce in the 50m backstroke S5; Marian Polo in the 200m individual medley SM13, where Ariadna Edo finished fifth and will be a reserve; Nuria Marqués and Beatriz Lérida in the 100m backstroke S9; David Sánchez in the 50m butterfly S6; and David Levecq, who finished sixth in the 100m butterfly S10 and will have to wait as a reserve.

Yassine Ouhdadi, the 5,000m champion, was seeking a double in the 1,500m T13 final but finished fifth. Additionally, Fiona Pinar advanced to the final in the 200m T64, finishing second in her heat with a personal best time of 27.42 seconds. The final will take place in a few hours, at 19:53.

Adi Iglesias has also qualified for her final in the 100m T13, finishing third in her heat. The final will be held at 20:53, and she will need to closely watch her semi-final rivals, Valiyeva and Soares, who posted very strong times.

In table tennis, Spaniards Ander Cepas and Jorge Cardona advanced to the quarterfinals of Class 9, both winning 3-1 against Japan’s Koyo Iwabuchi and China’s Chaodong Liu, respectively. Álvaro Valera has already reached the Class 6 quarterfinals and will play for a spot in the semifinals this afternoon against the American Ian Seidenfeld. At Roland Garros, Martín de la Puente and Daniel Caverzaschi are competing in the wheelchair tennis quarterfinals against Dutch players Egberink and Scheffers.

The Spanish men’s wheelchair basketball team suffered a surprising loss to Germany in the Bercy Arena (49-57) in the quarterfinals, ending their hopes of competing for a medal.
