Business Growth with Dual-Use Technology: A Landmark Event in Murcia

Murcia, Spain – On October 1 and 2, the Auditorio Víctor Villegas will be the epicenter of innovation as it hosts ‘From Defense Technology to Business Development.’ This pivotal event, organized by the Ministry of Business, Employment, and Social Economy of Murcia, will showcase how dual-use technology – which integrates military and civilian applications – can drive business growth.

This initiative, supported by the Institute of Promotion (Info) and the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF), is part of the broader ‘University SME’ project. Funded by the European Recovery and Resilience funds, the conference aims to leverage the technological expertise of defense-specialized companies and transition it to civilian applications. The event will feature conferences, roundtables, and live demonstrations, offering regional businesses insights into new digitalization opportunities.

Dual-Use Technology: A Catalyst for Business Innovation

Dual-use technology represents a significant opportunity for business innovation. For instance, drones, initially designed for military purposes, now have diverse civilian applications, including recreational, agricultural, and commercial uses. The event will delve into these applications, showcasing how businesses can capitalize on such technologies to expand their offerings and improve operational efficiency.

Caetra Project: Driving Regional Technological Advancement

The ‘From Defense Technology to Business Development’ event is part of the ‘Caetra’ project, a regional government initiative aimed at fostering a dual-use technology ecosystem. With a budget of 16 million euros and over 100 participating technology companies, the project is set to enhance competitiveness, innovation, and productivity within regional SMEs, potentially creating up to 1,500 jobs.

What to Expect at the Event

Attendees will benefit from keynote speeches by industry experts covering a range of topics from geopolitics to anti-drone technology, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence. The program includes practical sessions on leveraging satellite data, exploring underwater technology, and advancing anti-drone systems. Additionally, the event features roundtables and exhibitions with cutting-edge technologies such as Boston Dynamics robots and aerospace simulators from the Air and Space Force and Indra.
