The Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra has taken two important decisions in the state cabinet meeting. Tax on light motor vehicles (cars or small vehicles) has been abolished at five toll points in Mumbai. This decision comes into effect from 12 midnight on Monday (14 October). Simultaneously, it was decided to change the name of Maharashtra Skill Development University. This university is now known as Ratan Tata.

Maharashtra Government Minister Dada Bhuse said, “An important decision has been taken today in the meeting of the Maharashtra Government Cabinet. Light vehicle toll has been waived at five Mumbai toll points (Vashi, Airoli, Mulund, Thane, Dahisar). A fee of Rs 45 and Rs 75 is applicable until 2026. Of this number, around 70 thousand are heavy vehicles and this decision takes effect from 12 midnight. Around 2 lakh 80 thousand cars or smaller vehicles will benefit from this toll relief for the community to eliminate toll rates and take into account the public’s request. , then the government decided to abolish toll fees.
