Assembly elections have concluded in Jammu and Kashmir after nearly 10 years. The National Conference and Congress alliance had won a majority in the elections. The oath-taking ceremony in the Union Territory will be held on October 16.

The swearing-in ceremony for the National Conference-Congress coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 11.30 WIB. Omar Abdullah has informed that Jammu and Kashmir Principal Secretary Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has given him a letter containing a letter from the Lieutenant Governor inviting Omar Abdullah to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Who gets how many seats?
Assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases, the results of which were announced on October 8. In the elections held for 90 assembly seats, the National Conference won 42, BJP 29, Congress 6, PDP 3, JPC 1, CPIS 1, AAP 1, and independent candidates won 7.
The President’s rule was revoked
Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued an official order and removed the President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir. This paved the way for the formation of government in the Union Territory. The Ministry of Home Affairs revoked its previous order on October 31, 2019 regarding the imposition of Presidential rule in the region. The Ministry’s latest order dated October 13, 2024 cancels the 5 year old order.
