A delegation from ANIE Confindustria participated in the IDEE Expo and the Global Low-Carbon Industry Forum in China to explore opportunities for collaboration in energy transition and digitalization.
On September 8 and 9, 2024, a delegation from ANIE Confindustria, including Giulio Iucci (Vice President of ANIE Federation), Andrea Cristini (President of ANIE Rinnovabili), Flavio Andreoli Bonazzi, and Michelangelo Lafronza, attended the International Digital Energy Expo (IDEE) and participated in the Global Low-Carbon Industry Forum held in Shenzhen, China.
The IDEE Expo highlighted the importance of decarbonization, electrification, and digitalization as essential elements to achieving carbon neutrality. As energy and digital technologies become increasingly integrated, we are entering a new era of digital energy.
The Global Low-Carbon Industry Forum was also a key event featuring international speakers from organizations such as China Energy Research Society, National Energy Administration, Olade, Unef, China Electricity Council, ASEAN Center for Energy, Huawei, and many more.
During his speech, Andrea Cristini, President of ANIE Rinnovabili, discussed Italy’s approach to energy transition and digitalization, focusing on the crucial role of renewable energy, particularly solar power, the evolution of the electric market, and the opportunities brought by the Net Zero Industry Act.
“This mission provided an important opportunity for exchanging ideas between different stakeholders, all of whom share a common direction toward decarbonizing the electric sector, which relies heavily on the development of renewable energy sources,” said Cristini. “This pathway must also be supported by the synchronized development of grid infrastructure and energy storage systems.”
A major topic discussed was the role of energy storage technology and its potential to play multiple innovative roles, including the so-called grid forming technologies, which can shape the grid, as opposed to grid following technologies, which adapt to the grid’s behavior.
Giulio Iucci, Vice President of ANIE Federation, emphasized the importance of this exploratory mission: “Energy transition cannot happen without digitalization, which is a key element in optimizing the management of grids and plants.” He also stressed the importance of real-time data aggregation and management to ensure optimal plant operation and the monitoring of individual photovoltaic modules and the grid, all crucial for the broader adoption of distributed generation.
Events like IDEE and the Global Low-Carbon Industry Forum reflect ANIE’s commitment to promoting Italian technology industries in foreign markets, where industrial and technological cooperation is essential for advancing the global energy and digital transition.
