The Geekom Mini FUN11 is any gamer’s dream, a fully detailed mini PC with a stunning design that delivers good performance in a small space without sacrificing everything needed to play at the highest level.
The Mini FUN11 has a powerful Intel Core i9-11900KB processor offering 8 cores and 16 threads and clocked at 4.90 GHz which comes with 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, expandable up to 64GB and Gen4 SSD with 1TB PCIe options. Allows for up to two additional PCIe Gen3 SSDs, totaling up to 4TB of storage.
In terms of connectivity, Geekom Mini FUN11 is well equipped with six USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.0b and support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. In addition, Geecom designed smaller antennas installed on the back to give the Wi-Fi 6E more range, which works impressively no matter how far you are from the router. Furthermore, the most important thing for a PC gamer is that dedicated graphics cards with a length of 31.2 cm fit in a small box, that is, practically all of them, ie Radeon RX 6000 or GeForce RTX 30, it allows. High level of graphics performance. Of course, they are not included.
We loved the design of the Mini FUN11, always keeping in mind that it’s very much a gamer. It has a chassis custom made by Cougar for the Intel NUC Extreme Element, which allows you to see the internals with a tempered glass side panel and is illuminated by RGB fans, which are also responsible for cooling the system. It’s like the gaming PC we usually see in streamers, but smaller in size. The size means we may have some limitations on possible hardware upgrades because of the space inside the box.
Mini FUN11 is perfect for both types of users, content creators and gamers, 32 gigabytes of RAM, Intel CPU and GPU you can install make it a good workstation for editing content and playing up to any AAA. Its capabilities.
Geecom currently has the Mini Fun11 at €759, 50% off the launch price. 1519 Euros is a bit high price for this minipc, which does not include a dedicated graphics card in the package, there are better alternatives for that amount. At the current price, having a “good” and attractive gaming PC with good basic technology that allows you to choose your own graphics card is a great option.
Mini Work PC
As a more ‘serious’ alternative as a work PC, we tested the Geekom A8, a small PC that offers good performance thanks to AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS or Ryzen 7 8845HS processors, taking up very little space due to its small size.
The Geecom A8 we tested is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, clocked at up to 5.2 GHz, and integrated Radeon 780M graphics to deliver graphics performance. “Good” for a mini PC. It comes with 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM, expandable up to 64GB, and a 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD, providing ample storage space and fast read/write speeds.
Unlike the Mini Fun11, the Geekom A8 aims for solidity and restraint with an aluminum chassis. The device weighs around 450 grams and thanks to its ridiculous size, it can be installed anywhere, even behind a monitor with VESA anchors. In terms of connectivity, it includes several USB-A and USB-C ports, HDMI 2.0b and a USB 4.0 port that supports transfers of up to 40 Gbps. We can connect up to 4 screens to the A8 to provide a total of 4k resolution. Cooling is provided by a huge top fan, which is a bit noisy at times when it’s hot and we’re working hard.
The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor, which is an “old introduction”, combined with RAM, got good results on Geekbench, outperforming most small PCs in its category. If we have to put a “but”, it is the integrated Radeon 780M graphics, which has nothing to do with a dedicated graphics card and cannot run demanding games, although it can be used to edit video or play the games we already have. Calculate in a few years. As an added bonus, this processor has AI capabilities with its 38 TOP NPU, which we haven’t tested, but it allows for native execution of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
The Geecom A8 is an excellent choice for those looking for a powerful and discreet mini PC, so it’s suitable for any office. However, keep in mind that it is not suitable for high-end games, it is suitable for office work, content creation and as an entertainment center.
