In India, you will definitely find some temples in every district, every city and every village, but today we will talk about a temple that is not located in India but in Pakistan. This temple is not a corporate temple but a temple with beliefs related to Lord Shiva. The antiquity of the temple can also be appreciated by hearing stories related to the Mahabharata period. This temple is located about 40 kilometers from the Pakistani village of Chakwal, and about 280 kilometers from Lahore.

Lord Shiva’s tears fell in memory of Mother Sati

The name of the Pakistani temple we are talking about is Katsraj Temple. This temple is the main center of faith for Hindus. Every year Hindus go here for darshan and worship. It is believed that when Lord Shiva’s tears fell in memory of Mother Sati, they fell at this place, after which a pond was formed here. There is a pond here around which there are many temples which is called Katsraj Temple.

There is a temple near the pond

According to mythology, Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati lived here. When Goddess Sati burnt herself after being insulted in a yagya organized by her father, Lord Shiva was deeply hurt by this. It is believed that because of Lord Shiva’s crying, a pond was formed in Katsraj from his tears. It is also called Kataksha Kund. Katas means tears in the eyes. Today there is Katsraj Temple around this pond.

Relationship to Mahabharata period

It is believed that during the Mahabharata period, when the Pandavas went into exile after some defeat, they stayed near the temple here for a few days. Here when Draupadi felt thirsty, the Pandavas went to fetch water from Kataksh Kund. At that time this pond was under the control of the Yaksha. The Yakshas asked the Pandavas questions, and when the 4 Pandavas drank the pond water without answering, they lost consciousness. Finally, when Yudhishthhir saw his brothers unconscious, he gave the correct answers to the Yaksha’s questions, after which the Yaksha cured all the four Pandavas.
