Taipei: The whole world is aware of the extent of the tension existing between China and Taiwan. Meanwhile, on Monday, China once again conducted large-scale military exercises around Taiwan and its outlying islands. China described these military exercises as a warning against Taiwan independence. The Chinese Ministry of Defense said that the exercises were in response to Taiwan President Lai Ching-te’s refusal to respond to Beijing’s demands that Taiwan accept itself as part of China under the rule of the Communist Party. The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense described these exercises as provocative and said that its army was ready to respond.

The Missile Corps also participated in military exercises

Navy Senior Captain Li Shi, spokesman for China’s Eastern Theater Command, said the Navy, Air Force and Missile Forces participated in the exercises. “This is a strong warning to those who support Taiwan independence and a symbol of our determination to defend our national sovereignty,” Lee said in a statement.

China has been saying this

China says Taiwan must be reunited with mainland China, even if it means using force. China said earlier that the People’s Liberation Army is working on a mission to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The military establishment is well prepared, on high alert and will not be shy about taking resolute measures to confront any separatist attempts aimed at “Taiwan independence” and thwart foreign interference. Taiwan was a Japanese colony before it was unified with China at the end of World War II.
