Islamabad: Foreign delegations started arriving in Pakistan on Sunday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Geo News quoted sources at the airport that a Russian delegation consisting of 76 members and seven representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization arrived in Pakistan. A 15-member delegation from China, a four-member delegation from Kyrgyzstan, and a two-member delegation from Iran also arrived in Islamabad.

The twenty-third meeting of heads of government of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is scheduled to be held in Islamabad on October 15-16, for which the authorities have made strict security arrangements. Islamabad Inspector General of Police, Nasir Ali Rizvi, said in a statement that a “comprehensive” security plan had been prepared ahead of the summit in the capital. The police chief said that more than 9,000 police force personnel had been deployed to provide security, a traffic plan had been issued for the convenience of citizens, and the government had made arrangements to deal with any undesirable situation in the capital.
