Hurricane Milton: Devastating Storm Milton caused major devastation in the US state of Florida. The storm entered the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday after hitting cities with strong winds and rain. At least 10 people died due to the storm. Hurricane Milton touched down in Siesta Beach, about 112 kilometers south of Tampa, on Wednesday evening as a Category 3 hurricane. Due to the storm, power supplies were cut off to more than 3 million homes in Florida and severe damage occurred. Water supplies were also affected by the storm. Pipelines have broken in many places, adding to people’s problems.
The danger is not over yet
Gov. Ron DeSantis said this is not the worst-case scenario. Tampa may not have seen the catastrophic storm that was feared, but there is still a major emergency in the area. According to the governor, the storm dumped up to 18 inches (45 cm) of rain in some parts of the area. Officials said the danger has not passed, and storm warnings have been issued for much of Florida’s central east coast and as far north as Georgia.

Spanish Lakes Country Club, located near Fort Pierce on Florida’s Atlantic coast, was severely damaged, with several homes destroyed and some residents killed. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said five people died in the storm. Because of the storm, about 80,000 people spent the night in shelters and thousands more had to move to safer places. Meanwhile, in Orlando, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld remained closed Thursday.

Biden had declared a state of emergency
It is noteworthy that US President Joe Biden had declared a state of emergency in Florida. Seven thousand rescue workers were deployed to help. Due to Hurricane Milton, US President Joe Biden postponed his trip to Germany and Angola. The American President had appealed to people to go to a safe place, and said that this was a matter of life or death.
