Washington: The Iranian ghost fleet has created an atmosphere of terror at sea. This ghostly Iranian fleet has caused panic in the entire sea. Is this the Iranian ghost fleet that the United States imposed sanctions on? America has now extended the deadline for sanctions on this ghost fleet even further. America took this step in response to the recent Iranian missile attack on Israel. The United States on Friday halted Iran’s ghost fleet and expanded sanctions against the oil and petrochemical sectors.
This move by President Joe Biden’s administration dealt a strong blow to Iran’s oil and petrochemical industries, which are a major sector of the Iranian economy. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said in a statement, “Today’s new designations also include actions taken against Iran’s ‘ghost fleet’ that delivers illicit Iranian oil to buyers around the world.” These tough sanctions will help deprive Iran of the financial resources it uses to support its missile programs and support terrorist groups that threaten the United States and its allies.
Israel will take revenge on Iran
Israel pledged to respond to the Iranian missile attack on it on October 1. At present, Israel’s focus is on Lebanon and Gaza. Here the Israeli army launches violent air strikes. A statement said the US Treasury Department can now impose sanctions “on any person determined to work in the oil and petrochemical sectors of the Iranian economy.” Biden said that Israel should explore options to attack Iranian oil fields. Three Gulf sources told Reuters that the Gulf states are pressuring Washington to prevent Israel from attacking oil sites, with concerns that its facilities would become vulnerable to Tehran’s proxies if the conflict escalates.
What is Iran’s ghost sheep?
Iran’s ghost fleet illegally trades oil and petrochemical products to other countries via sea. But America extended the embargo imposed on it further. This dealt a major blow to Iran. The US Treasury also said it was designating 16 entities implicated in shipping petroleum and petrochemical products in support of the National Iranian Oil Company, and designated 17 vessels as prohibited assets. The State Department has also taken steps to obstruct the flow of funds to Iran’s weapons programs and support for “terrorist agents and partners.” It imposed sanctions on six entities involved in oil trading in Tehran and identified six ships as prohibited assets.
